About baresia
baresia is an independent bar and travel guide. We go out ourselves, write down what counts and never take money for a recommendation.
A guide for good nights
baresia grew out of a simple observation: the best bars are rarely where the most reviews are. They sit behind a refrigerator door in Barcelona, under a railway bridge in Berlin or on a parking deck in Neukölln. We collect these addresses, describe them honestly and tell you when they are at their best.
How we choose
Every bar in this guide meets three conditions: it has a character of its own, it makes good drinks and it works for guests who are in town for the first time. We name the price level, the dress code and the right hour, because a rooftop at 5 pm is a different place from a rooftop at 11 pm.
No paid recommendations
Bars, clubs and beach clubs cannot buy their way into this guide. Whenever we do work with a venue, it says so on the entry. Opening hours, prices and dress codes change quickly, so please double-check the venue's own information before your evening, and tell us about anything we got wrong at info@baresia.com.
The tools
Night Planner, Drink Match, Night Budget, Bar Roulette, City Duel, Night Clock and the quiz run entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us, nothing is tracked. You share results yourself, as a link or as an image.
Images and videos
The mood images on baresia illustrate our topics and were created for this guide. They do not show specific bars, brands or people. A few shots from Palma and the Costa del Sol come from our own archive.
Going out responsibly
Alcohol is not a sport. We write about bars because they are places for people, not for quantities. If you drive, you don't drink, and if you feel unwell, you go home. More in our piece Partying safely.
